Chattz and High Point Kids Zone have open houses Dec. 4

A year after High Point Climbing and Fitness and Rock/Creek Outfitters moved into The Block on Broad Street, the development is now full with the recent addition of two new ventures.

Chattz Coffee and High Point Kids Zone have moved into the remaining spaces in the development and are holding a ribbon cutting and open house celebration Thursday, Dec. 4 beginning at 4 p.m.

"We think this is just great, because it's a completely local development with local businesses," said River City Company Communications Specialist Amy Donahue. "From the contraction company to the owners of Chattz, who are longstanding local business owners, this project has been local."

High Point Kids Zone is a separate, more specialized climbing gym with an entrance on Chestnut Street. While attached to the larger climbing area, this gym gives children a space all their own in which to climb, Donahue said.

Chattz's third location is more than just a coffee shop. Chattz at the Block serves an expanded lunch and dinner menu as well as beer and wine, and will stay open later, Donahue added.

"This is a great fit for this development and for this area," she said. "They'll be staying open later and offering more food options, and I think they'll they serve a lot people in that area."

With the seasonal addition of the Ice on the Landing skating rink a few blocks away, the coffee shop will be a great winter addition to help keep people warm this winter.

"We have a lot of people in that area who are looking for a place to take a break and hang out," Donahue said. "There really isn't another place like this for people down there."
