(AP Photo/Bastien Inzaurralde) Chattanooga City Council members voted to approve a first reading of an ordinance to regulate ride-share programs such as Uber, Lyft and Sidecar.
The ordinance was a joint-bill after two bills written by Councilmen Ken Smith and Chris Anderson were merged last week.
Councilmen Moses Freeman and Jerry Mitchell attempted to make five separate amendments to the ordinance, but none succeeded.
The council will vote on the second reading of the ordinance at its next meeting on Jan. 6.
