Police make arrest tied to Georgia church burglaries

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Police say they have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a string of church burglaries in north Georgia.

WDUN Radio reports that 20-year-old Skylar Michaelson of Lumpkin County was arrested late Friday night after crashing a car and running into the woods. Police have said the thefts from churches in Lumpkin and Dawson counties totaled more than $40,000.

It is not clear if Michaelson has an attorney.

The most recent burglaries occurred within a few hours on the morning of May 13. Money and property was taken, including money from church collections.
