The USA Today's college football coaches' poll was released Thursday morning, and defending national champion Florida State was voted No. 1.
Alabama was pegged No. 2 and in-state and SEC West rival Auburn was NO. 5 in the annual voting by selected college football coaches from around the country. It is believed to be the first time Auburn and Alabama have started the same season ranked in the top five of coaches poll.
Half of the 14 teams in the SEC cracked the top 25 with South Carolina (No. 9), Georgia (12), LSU (13), Ole Miss (19) and Texas A&M (21) making the poll.
The only three SEC teams not named on any of the ballots were Vandy, Kentucky and Tennessee.
