Notre Dame all-state athlete Kareem Orr has verbally committed to sign a football scholarship with the University of Louisville. The 6-foot, 190-pound Orr is a two-way star at Notre Dame and could play either defensive back or receiver in college.
"I just really felt comfortable with their coaches and the way they've recruited me from early on so the 'Ville is the place for me," said Orr, who visited the campus last weekend. "I've had it in mind to go ahead and commit to get it over with before my senior season gets started, so I just decided this was the right time.
"They said I would get on the field somewhere early, but they're not sure if it'll be on offense or defense. It really doesn't matter which side of the ball I play, I'm just excited to be a part of their program."
Orr chose the Cardinals over 14 other scholarship offers, including Cincinnati, Duke, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Last season he accumulated 1,724 all-purpose yards with 15 touchdowns and also intercepted five passes, returning two for scores.
