Frank Scott BozzieConvicted killer headed to prison
DALTON, Ga. - A Dalton, Ga., man is headed to prison for life after a jury convicted him of murder this week.
In addition to a murder charge, the jury also convicted 48-year-old Frank Bozzie of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and family violence battery at the end of his trial on Thursday.
According to a release from Conasauga Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bert Poston, Bozzie killed a man after a dispute with his ex-girlfriend. On June 10, 2013, Bozzie rammed his truck into Richard Holbrook and Jennifer Varner's van at the McDonald's on East Walnut Avenue. He then smashed their van with a baseball bat and confronted Varner, a former love interest.
After witnesses called the police, according to the release, Bozzie drove to Richard Morgan's house, where Varner's children were staying. Bozzie revved his engine and argued with Morgan. When Morgan called 911, Bozzie ran over him and dragged him 30 feet.
Morgan died from mechanical asphyxiation, the exhaust from the engine filling his lungs.
Bozzie's sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 1. He faces either life in prison or life in prison without parole.
Bozzie's arguments with former lovers have led to violence in the past, records show. In 1996, he assaulted his ex-wife and then tried to ram his truck into a deputy's vehicle. In 2006, he was convicted of assaulting another ex-wife.
Two convicted in child sex case
MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. - Two men were convicted last week for traveling to Murray County, Ga., to have sex with children.
Michael Robert Doan, 54, of Ooltewah, and Sunil Shamji Jungiwalla, 49, of Snellville, Ga., were both convicted of two counts of criminal attempt to commit child molestation and computer and electronic child exploitation. Both men face up to 60 years in prison.
According to a release from Conasauga District Attorney Bert Poston, Doan and Jungiwalla both chatted online with a member of the FBI's Northwest Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detective Brett Morrison pretended he was trying to hook Doan and Jungiwalla up with his underage female relatives, who do not exist.
Jungiwalla communicated with Morrison through text messages and phone calls, as well as graphic emails. He drove to Murray County in July 2011, where Morrison arrested him. According to the release, Jungiwalla admitted that he came to town to have sex with an underage girl.
Doan chatted online with Morrison for two days, bought erectile dysfunction medication and drove to meet Morrison. After he was arrested, according to the release, Doan also told Morrison he wanted to have sex with underage girls.
Jungiwalla will be sentenced on July 16. Doan will be sentenced on Aug. 27.
Three arrested on pot charges
BRIDGEPORT, Ala. - Three people were arrested Thursday on Aldhouse Avenue in Bridgeport, Ala., after three marijuana plants were discovered growing in the back yard of the home there.
Members of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Stevenson Police Department and Bridgeport Police Department charged Michael E. Blevins, 52; Connie A. Parker, 48, and Carl T. Adcock, 39, all of Bridgeport.
Each suspect was charged with possession of marijuana 2nd degree, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
All were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
