2 firefighters hurt in blaze at Atlanta historic home

ATLANTA - Authorities say two firefighters stained minor injuries while battling a large blaze at a historic home in Atlanta.

The fire, reported to 911 shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, heavily damaged the home on Lullwater Place off Ponce De Leon Avenue.

Atlanta Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Chris Wessels tells CBS Atlanta that a portion of the ceiling collapsed, trapping a firefighter under debris for about 10 minutes. Fellow firefighters managed to free him, and he sustained minor burn to his leg. A second firefighter injured his ankle during the rescue.

WAGA-TV reports that the 90-year-old home is next door to a home where scenes from "Driving Miss Daisy" were filmed. WSB Radio reports that it had been vacant for about 17 years but had recently been purchased.

The cause was under investigation early Wednesday.
