Latoya Watkins said she never received a call when her son was taken from Silverdale Detention Facility to the hospital after being cut during a fight with six fellow inmates.

"Silverdale did not contact me, and did not tell me that my son was cut or had to go to the hospital or anything," Watikins said.

Watkin's son, Antonio Watkins, 21, is identified by police as a high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples, and was arrested on Easter at 2004 Curtis St. -- a house police say is known to be a spot where Gangster Disciples congregate.

Police found a gold CRV at the residence that matches the description of a vehicle used in a recent shooting. Inside the car was marijuana, white powder and Antonio Watkin's identification. As police searched the car, Watkins became aggressive according to the affidavit.

He is charged with two counts of drugs for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and retaliation against an officer.

Silverdale confirmed on Thursday that a fight took place in the facility between seven inmates in the general population housing unit on April 17.

"The incident resulted in minor injuries to one inmate, requiring transport outside the facility for non-emergent medical treatment," according to a written statement from Silverdale Spokeswoman Biancea Hudson. "Facility management is reviewing the incident and notifications has been made to its government partner."

Latoya Watkins said she was able to talk to her son for the first time since the incident on Tuesday. Antonio told her how he was not taken to the hospital for eight hours after being cut with what he described as a homemade knife. He said that he passed out multiple times waiting for medical attention, and had to be given four staples.

Latoya says she is still waiting for answers from Silverdale, who is still not returning her calls regarding the incident.
