A 14-year-old boy was wounded but alive after being shot four times Sunday afternoon at a home in the 3100 block of Seventh Avenue in East Lake.

Chattanooga police said the boy was shot in the left chest, left thigh and twice in his left arm.

The shooting happened about 5:05 p.m. When police arrived, the boy was alert and walking around, according to a police news release. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

On the street of single-family, frame homes, crime scene tape was strung from the chain-link fence in the front yard all the way across the street.

While police worked inside, gathering evidence and conducting interviews, neighbors gathered outside the taped-off rectangle and gazed as the boy's mother and family members paced, cried, hugged and made cellphone calls.

Police did not release any information on how the shooting happened, and said they had no information on who may have done it.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chattanooga police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 423- 698-2525.
