A man from Rossville sits behind bars in Catoosa County, Ga., on multiple child sex charges.

Marshall George Wilson, 60, was arrested Dec. 29 and is being held in the Catoosa County Jail on charges of child molestation, aggravated sodomy and rape.

Detective Keith Sewell with the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department said that, in this particular case, investigators believe Wilson repeatedly abused one child.

In December, Fort Oglethorpe police received a complaint of child molestation that allegedly took place between 2008 and 2010, according to a news release from the police department.

A warrant was issued for Wilson by the department, and Wilson eventually turned himself in for arrest.

"It is not uncommon in many cases of child molestation that the reporting or disclosure of an incident may come months, or even years, after the incident," Sewell said in a written statement.

The department has yet to release many details in the case or the incident report, citing pending interviews with potential witnesses.

Wilson is being held without bond, and a preliminary court hearing should be set for the end of this month, Sewell said.

"Kids are afraid to tell somebody if they are being abused," Sewell said in a phone interview Friday. "For parents, it is real important to have that conversation with kids about appropriate and inappropriate touching, and who to talk to about it."
