A $10,000 reward is being offered by the Dalton, Ga., Police Department for information leading to an arrest and prosecution of the person or person responsible for the Dec. 22 murder of 43-year-old Paul Guerrant.

Guerrant was beaten to death on the night of Dec. 22 as he was walking along Dozier Street on his way home from a meeting at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, according to Dalton authorities.

Police dispatchers were told a man was lying in the middle of Dozier Street bleeding from his head at 9:37 p.m.

Dalton officers found Guerrant in the road barely clinging to life, authorities said. He was taken to Hamilton Medical Center, then to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Guerrant was attacked between 9:28 p.m. and 9:37 p.m. as he walked home, talking on his cell phone to a friend living out of state. The call to 911 was placed at 9:37 p.m.

Surveillance video has been retrieved from various nearby businesses on Guerrant's route that night. The video shows him walking as far as Frederick Street, near the scene of the attack, police said.

Coroner's office officials say he was killed by multiple blunt force wounds to his head.

Anyone with any information should call Detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, then dial 9 and enter extension 189.
