A Scottsboro City Schools teacher in Jackson County, Ala., has been arrested for having sexual relations with a student over the past three months.

The investigation was launched after Scottsboro police got a call Sunday about a missing girl. The girl's parents said she ran away after being confronted about a relationship with a teacher/coach from school, according to news release from the police department. The girl was located several hours later.

Scottsboro police arrested Kandace Marie Christopher, 26, of Fort Payne, Ala., Monday on charges of a school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19.

Christopher is free on a $16,000 bond and no court date has been set.

The investigation is headed by Scottsboro Police detective Lt. Erik Dohring.

Another area teacher was arrested last week for supposedly having sex with one of her students.

Elizabeth Scroggs, 32, was a teacher at Coahulla Creek High School in Whitfield County, Ga.
