NEWNAN, Ga. -- Northbound lanes of I-85 are closed near Newnan after two tractor trailers caught fire and one overturned.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials say several northbound lanes of the freeway remained blocked Tuesday night after an accident at mile post 46 in Coweta County. Officials had closed all northbound lanes near the crash just after it happened.

Coweta County Assistant Fire Chief Mitch Coggin told the Newnan Times-Herald (http://bit.ly/1V0Ajfe) the occupants of the trucks got out safely and were treated by medics on the scene.

Footage from local television stations showed the charred remains of two trucks and emergency responders on the scene. Details on the cause of the crash and fire were not immediately available.
