Chattanooga police shut down an alleged brothel in East Chattanooga on Tuesday after receiving complaints from citizens about criminal activity at the home, according to police.

Police arrested four women, and city code inspectors condemned the house at 2210 East 17th Street, according to police.

Officers visited the home on Tuesday and spoke with the tenant, Roland Haygood. He told police he was the only person who lived in the house but when pressed admitted that he does allow "girls" to use the rooms occasionally.

He was not charged with a crime because he was not actively engaged in criminal activity, according to police. But police did call Chattanooga code enforcement inspectors, who condemned the house and evicted Haygood on Tuesday.

In the week before the house was condemned, police arrested Latania Benn, 50, Kenya Russell, 33, April Romine, 38, and Tanya Scott, 39, for prostitution. All were arrested in the area near the house.
