An initial committee has been formed to investigate potential relocation sites for the Moccasin Bend firing range, according to a release from city of Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond and National Park Service Superintendent Brad Bennett are among of the 15-member committee.

This committee will also include a representative from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The most recent attempt to move the firing range was unsuccessful, the release said, after the estimated cost of the projected doubled from what was originally budgeted.
