A Hamilton County judge agreed Monday to keep the trial date of a Chattanooga man involved in a 2013 Bi-Lo shooting on track.

Chattanooga Police say Galen Allen Jr., 28, and Calvin Ward, 17, arranged to meet Jaden Archer in the grocery store parking lot on Highway 58 to buy four Microsoft tablets in December 2013.

During the exchange though, Archer told police Ward tried to rob him. Archer brandished a .40-caliber Glock and fatally shot the teenager, records show.

Archer, a legal gun carrier and owner, also fired at Allen, who later arrived at Erlanger hospital with a gunshot wound.

Allen, who is being held in Hamilton County Jail on a $475,000 bond, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder; aggravated assault; tampering with or fabricating evidence; and aggravated robbery.

His trial is set for Oct. 13.
