Nathan Sexton, 29, goes on a 5k lunch training run on Feb. 25. Sexton is eight and a half months into a fight with brain cancer. His initial prognosis was that he'd have 15 months to live, so he decided to make the most of it and train to compete in the Chattanooga Marathon half marathon on Sunday.

Nathan Sexton says he is running "faster than ever," and his company is stepping up to the plate to support him.

Sexton, the 29-year-old local man who was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer last June, inspired many by running a half marathon in early March while on chemotherapy.

His company, Bellhops, is throwing a home run derby May 7 at AT&T Field called "Homers for Heroes" to help financially support Sexton as he explores clinical trials to treat the cancer.

The event will pit 16 Chattanooga companies against each other in a home run derby tournament. The event will be open to the public.

See Thursday's Times Free Press for the full story on Sexton's fight against cancer and Homers for Heroes.
