A tractor-trailer crashed down a hill and into First Baptist Church in Chattanooga today, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

One person was injured in the crash, which happened at 401 Gateway Avenue, according to police.

Police say it appears the tractor-trailer was sitting still and was being loaded when the braking system failed and it plunged into the church.

The crash may have caused structural damage, said Bruce Garner, fire department spokesman, and a building inspector has been called to assess the damage.
