A 45-year-old contractor at Erlanger hospital was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual battery after a woman said he groped her in the hospital's parking garage.

Wayne Marcereau is charged with one count of sexual battery. He works for Sodexo, a company that provides food and housekeeping services at Erlanger, said hospital spokeswoman Pat Charles.

The woman, who will not be identified by the Times Free Press, told police she went to the hospital to visit a friend who had given birth on Aug. 5.

She said she knew Marcereau as a friend and said she contacted him while she was at the hospital to say hello. He asked to meet in the parking garage by his car, but when she met him, he tried to get her into his car, she said.

The woman told him no, and said Marcereau began to grab at her breasts and put his hand up her skirt.

She told police she eventually pushed him away and walked back into the hospital. She told police she was verbally telling him no throughout the incident.

The woman reported the alleged assault to authorities on Aug. 12.

A call to a Sodexo representative went unanswered Wednesday.
