Truck drives 150 feet off side of Aetna Mountain in Marion County, driver and passenger live

Two men in a pickup truck swerved off the roadway and plummeted 150 feet down the side of Aetna Mountain on Saturday and lived to tell the tale.

Sgt. Alan Bailey with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Eddie Buttram was driving a 2005 Ford pickup truck down the mountain with one passenger, Tim Boatwright.

One of the men told the trooper who responded to the wreck that an oncoming four wheeler in his lane forced Buttram to swerve and the truck went off the side of the mountain.

Despite the lengthy fall, the two men appeared to have only minor injuries, but the passenger had to be lifted out by basket to a rescue crew. Boatwright was transported by ground to Erlanger hospital.

The driver of the four wheeler the men claimed came into their lane had not been identified as of Saturday night.
