DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a man they say fatally shot his girlfriend in her Douglasville home.

Douglasville Police Department spokesman Mark Edwards tells news outlets that 34-year-old Paul Humphries shot and killed his girlfriend Monday night in front of her children and ran off.

Police say they responded to reports of shots fired Monday night at the residence and found the body of the woman who had been shot at least once. Investigators say the shooting started out as a domestic incident.

Officials began searching the area with dogs and a police helicopter.

Police believe Humphries is armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
