MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Shelby County authorities say they have charged a 33-year-old woman in the early-morning stabbing death of a man.

Al.com reports that sheriff's officials said Latasha Nicole Smith, 33, is charged with murder in the death of 40-year-old Keith Fulgham.

The sheriff's office said in a news release that deputies were dispatched about 1:15 a.m. Monday to the Almont community, near Montevallo. They found Fulgham unresponsive, and efforts to revive him failed.

Witnesses led deputies to Smith, also of Montevallo. Deputies arrested her at the scene. Officials didn't say what led to the stabbing or explain the relationship between Smith and Fulgham.

Smith was being held Monday in the Shelby County Jail with bond set at $75,000.

Jail records don't indicate whether she has an attorney to speak for her.
