Martin Luther King Boulevard exit closed

The exit ramp from U.S. 27 North onto Martin Luther King Boulevard will be closed tomorrow, June 30, after construction workers found a potentially weak spot on the interstate, according to a press release from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The outside lane of U.S. 27 North will also be closed until a contractor can make repairs. TDOT expects the repair to be finished tomorrow afternoon. The lane and exit ramp will reopen after the repair, according to the release.

The workers found the potentially dangerous spot when investigating a pothole on the U.S. 27 bridge over 12th street in the construction zone, according to the release.

TDOT is urging drivers to use an alternate route for their morning commute. The department recommends drivers use the Market Street exit or the 4th street exit.
