The Chattanooga Police Fugitive Unit announced Tuesday evening it has made another arrest in last week's shooting that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man.

The unit, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service and Catoosa County Fugitive Unit, arrested suspect Tavoraus Sanchez Thompson, 24, on a charge of criminal homicide.

Police took out warrants for Thompson's arrest on May 11, one day after Orlandas Gay, 26, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities responded to a call of a person shot at the 4900 block of Jeffery Lane in Emma Wheeler Homes at 5:25 p.m. on May 10. Gay was transported by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services to Erlanger hospital.

Police said the shooting was precipitated by a fistfight in the street between Gay and Thompson's brother, Judius Antonio Thompson, also 26.

Gay had been arrested several times in Hamilton County on a variety of charges, ranging from domestic assault to joyriding. Most recently, he was charged in February with aggravated robbery.
