Jurors selected in murder trial of man accused of murder in 2010 slaying

A Hamilton County jury has been selected in the 2010 murder trial of Patrick Carmody.

After working through the morning and afternoon, attorneys landed on a jury, which now must decide what to do with Carmody's felony murder and especially aggravated robbery charges.

Prosecutors say Hamilton County sheriff's deputies were called Sept. 9, 2010 to 1211 Johnston Terrace, where they found 21-year-old Chance LeCroy, dead on his bedroom floor. His roommate, Tucker King, said a white man in a hoodie held him at gunpoint while another man shot LeCroy. Afterwards, the suspects retreated in a gray pickup truck.

After nearly two years, investigators pinned the murder on Carmody, Billy Bob Partin, and Ronald Pittman.

Partin, who was indicted alongside Carmody, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in June 2014 and will spend 20 years in prison without parole.

Pittman, meanwhile, testified in 2012 that he held the gun to King's head, that Patrin and Carmody knew LeCroy had drugs and large flat-screen TVs, and that all three men drove together to his Hixson house to steal anything valuable. Since posting a $100,000 bond for his facilitation of felony murder and facilitation of especially aggravated robbery charges, Pittman has been on house arrest.

Carmody, on the other hand, has been incarcerated on a $2 million bond.

Once the jury returns from lunch, opening arguments will follow around 3 p.m.
