Cleveland Police Department officers responded to 280 Gaut Street after reports that a dog had bitten two people at the residence.

The dog approached the officer in an aggressive manner forcing the officer to retreat back to his vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, officers observed two males running out of the residence screaming for help.

One male was being chased by a pit bull. The male then jumped on top of a car at 270 Gaut Street trying to get away from the dog. He fell off the car and the dog continued to bite him.

The officer approached the male and dog and fired one shot into the dog and the dog released the male. The officer fired a second shot, killing the dog. The male climbed on top of the car where he stayed until treated by EMS.
