Female inmate found dead in Fort Payne, Ala., jail

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officers are investigating the death of an inmate found unresponsive in her cell in the Fort Payne, Ala., city jail.

Stephanie Renee Clines, 33, was found dead in her cell around 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Fort Payne Police Department.

Fort Payne officials said Cline had been arrested around 2 p.m. CST Wednesday on a Marshall County warrant but was unresponsive when a corrections officers checked on her around 7:40 p.m. CST.

Personnel from the Fort Payne Police, Fort Payne Fire Department and Dekalb Ambulance Service responded to the city jail and attempted to resuscitate Cline. She was transported to the Dekalb Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at approximately 8:45 p.m. CST.
