Stephen Wright is no longer the executive director of the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition, said Mark Williams, who has been named interim executive director.

Williams spoke about the change after the coalition's monthly board meeting Tuesday.

He said Wright, as of Tuesday, is no longer with the organization, but he could not comment on whether Wright resigned, was laid off or fired.

Former board members and people who worked with Wright for various fundraisers and the Point-In-Time Count said the change was sudden and unexpected.

Wright, who has been executive director of the homeless coalition since 2013, was contacted by telephone, but declined comment.

Brian Frye, the coalition's board chairman, said he had no details.
