Victim in Hamilton Place shooting identified

The victim the the nonfatal shooting Sunday night at Hamilton Place Mall has been identified while Chattanooga police continue the search for the gunman.

Police identified the victim of the shooting as 34-year-old Robert Driver Jr., according to a statement released early Monday. Driver's wounds were not life-threatening, Police said.

Officers responded to the scene in the parking lot near Bar Louie at 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd. around 9:50 p.m. Sunday.

A suspect drove away from the scene onto Interstate 75, dispatchers said on Sunday. Police did not give a direction of travel.

The police described the suspect as a white male driving a black Nissan 350z convertible. He is possibly armed with a .45-caliber handgun, dispatchers said Sunday.

In a post on Facebook signed by "The Managers" of Bar Louie, the restaurant said the victim was among a group of military veterans who were awaiting the arrival of an Uber when they were accosted by a passing vehicle.

"The culmination of the situation being that [a person in the passing vehicle fired] a single shot, striking one of the gentleman in the shoulder before speeding off," according to the post.
