Rescue efforts are underway for a man who injured his ankle while hiking in the Pocket Wilderness.

The man slipped and fell but was able to text his wife at 4:30 p.m. to ask her to call 9-1-1 for help, according to a release from Hamilton County emergency services. A team of responders is currently carrying him out of the woods.

The incident occurred at the foot of Mowbray Mountain. Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department, Sequoyah VFD, Dallas Bay VFD, Soddy Daisy Fire Department, Hamilton County Marine Rescue and Tennessee State Park rangers responded to the scene.
