Jeremy Brown, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts guitarist, dies

NEW YORK (AP) - A guitarist for Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts has died a day before the release of the band's debut album. Jeremy Brown was 34.

Publicist Diana Baron hasn't given a reason for Brown's death on Monday. The band's album, "Blaster," was released Tuesday.

Weiland has posted a statement on Facebook honoring his friend and collaborator. The former Stone Temple Pilots frontman says he grew concerned when Brown didn't show up for a rehearsal for their album release show on Monday.

Weiland calls Brown "one of the most gifted guitar players" he's ever known. They met in 2008.

The band recently performed at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
