After nearly three years, Brentwood police announced Wednesday they have closed a criminal investigation into whether a boy was repeatedly sexually assaulted at Brentwood Academy during the 2014-15 school year.

"Following numerous interviews with students, school staff, and parents, the CPIT team concluded no criminal charges will be pursued," the Brentwood Police Department said in a Wednesday morning news release. "In addition, no criminal wrongdoing on the part of Brentwood Academy staff was discovered."

CPIT is the Child Protective Investigative Team, a unit made up of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services and the local district attorney.
