Q&A: Investigation into detention of Emirati at Ohio hotel

CINCINNATI (AP) - A prosecutor continues to investigate the detention of an Emirati businessman by police at gunpoint at an Ohio hotel after a hotel clerk raised suspicions that he could have links to terrorism.

Police handcuffed businessman Ahmed al-Menhali (AH'-med ahl-men-HAHL'-ee) at an Avon hotel last month after receiving 911 calls from the clerk's family expressing fears that the businessman could have ties to the Islamic State group. Avon officials say al-Menhali was released after police determined he wasn't a threat.

The city turned its investigation over to the Lorain County prosecutor to determine whether any legal action should be taken against the clerk or her family members.

Al-Menhali has said that he wants someone to determine how the events unfolded. His attorney also is investigating the incident.
