Snowfall closes schools, some businesses, governments

Four to eight inches of snow blanket Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia this morning, closing schools and businesses.

Schools systems across the region are closed as are several government offices.

Unum and Cigna are closed today. Memorial Hospital officials announced that the following departments are closed today as well:

* Memorial Wound Center at the Downtown Glenwood Campus.

* Memorial Outpatient Physical Therapy at the Downtown Glenwood Campus

* Memorial Center for Health at the Hamilton YMCA

* Memorial Sleep Center at Memorial North Park

The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning from Nashville eastward across the Cumberland Plateau and southward to the Alabama and Georgia state lines, the Associated Press reported.

Most of the snow had ended in West Tennessee, except for patches between Memphis and Jackson.

A second round of precipitation is expected to move into West Tennessee on Monday afternoon , bringing a mixture of snow and freezing drizzle, according to forecasters.
