Melvin Fennell bled from numerous gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, according to a Hamilton County medical examiner's report.

Fennell was one of three people shot July 3 while at a residence at 818B Arlington Ave.

Police still are investigating the shooting death of the 25-year-old man and father of five who went by the nickname "Brando."

The medical examiner's report, released this week, shows Fennell was shot as many as three times in the thigh and leg area, resulting in him bleeding to death while in surgery at Erlanger hospital.

Fennell also had a bullet in his left leg from a previous shooting, according to the report.

Two others, 24-year-old Calvin Garner and 21-year-old Mariah Stoudemire, also were wounded in the July 3 shooting and were listed as stable earlier this week.

Family members held visitation for Fennell on Friday.

As of Friday afternoon, police had not arrested anyone in the shootings, said Chattanooga police Sgt. Jerri Weary, spokeswoman for the department.

Fennell's slaying marks the 15th homicide in the city this year. To date, nine of the 15 cases remain open without arrest, Weary said.
