A 21-year-old accused of shooting and killing an 18-year-old at point-blank range is on track for trial in September.

Prosecutors and Myles Stout's attorneys met Monday for a pretrial conference before Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman to iron out what stipulations will apply to witness testimony.

Stout has been charged with second-degree murder, reckless homicide and reckless endangerment in the death of Myles Compton, who was killed by a gunshot wound to the chest in March 2011.

Stout's trial has been set for Sept. 4 before Steelman.

Stout is accused of shooting Compton during a gathering at a home in Hixson. Stout has said he didn't know the Sig Saur 9 mm pistol was loaded when he pointed it at Compton's chest and pulled the trigger, but investigators have said he loaded the gun before pointing it at Compton.

Compton's father also has filed a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit against Stout and others who were involved in the party where Myles Compton died.
