July 4th, 2012 by Staff Report in News

Chattanooga businessman Albert Waterhouse was charged with driving under the influence late Sunday.

Waterhouse, 56, was traveling south on state Route 148 in Hamilton County when he got into a single-vehicle crash. A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer "observed a strong odor of an intoxicant about his person" and performed field sobriety tests, a police report shows. The officer determined that Waterhouse was "too impaired to operate a motor vehicle," according to the report.

In recent years, the Lookout Mountain resident's firm has received several public relations contracts from the cities of Chattanooga and East Ridge. He was released from the Hamilton County Jail on Monday on a $5,000 bond, records show. Waterhouse has an Oct. 11 appearance scheduled in Hamilton County General Sessions Court. He previously was charged with DUI in 2004, according to newspaper archives.
