One of the attractive, useful and very popular "free" attractions in our area is the "Tennessee Riverwalk." Now there's good news that it is going to be expanded.
The popular pedestrian and bike path currently runs from Chickamauga Dam through scenic pastoral, woodland and park areas along the Tennessee River to Ross's Landing.
Now a contract for $189,000 has been awarded to design an extension mostly along the river to 19th Street and to Finley Stadium.
It will be financed in part by federal money. We are not sure the project is really federal business, but it should be good for our community and our people.
Since federal money is being spent, the extended Riverwalk surely will be more beneficial than many other federally funded projects.
