Regulations still a huge problem

The Obama administration recently rolled out its plan to get rid of some costly and needless federal regulations. Among other welcome changes, the rules that apply to oil spill prevention would no longer absurdly apply to spilled milk. (Obviously, oil and milk do not pose an equal environmental threat.)

But you might not want to start celebrating just yet.

When the administration announced early this year that it would root out some unnecessary regulations, it exempted the massive bureaucracy that programs such as ObamaCare socialized medicine are expected to create - and have already begun creating.

Those heavy regulations "will not be priorities" for review and elimination, an administration official told The Wall Street Journal.

That's unfortunate, because ObamaCare and the administration's environmental proposals are where some of the most burdensome regulations are to be found.

While reduction of regulations in various parts of the government may well be worthwhile, the administration is ignoring the big regulatory issues surrounding ObamaCare and other huge programs.

Wouldn't it be wiser to focus on the main problems first?
