Mackey, Beck allow the rich to get richer

Many days before the vote to give a huge tax break to the developer of the Choo Choo, I spoke with Hamilton County Commissioner Warren Mackey about how he was elected to protect his constituency and entrusted to be a good steward of their tax dollars.

I explained how a 'yes' vote allows the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. I also emailed Commissioner Beck expressing the same thing.

I shared with both of them that they represent the people of two of the poorest districts in Hamilton County and these people have entrusted them to protect their best interests. These are the people who will be hurt the most if a tax break goes to a project that doesn't need it.

If both voted 'no,' it would have stopped the tax break. Unbelievably, both of them voted 'yes' and chose to throw their constituencies under the bus. They have the ability to change their minds and call for a re-vote. Will they?

My heart goes out to the people in District 4 and 5, especially when their property taxes go up. And for the record, I gave $500 to Mackey's re-election campaign.

Hillary sure to dodge email scandal fallout

Nothing will come of Hillary Clinton's email scandal.

The Obamas, Clintons and heads of governmental agencies are all a part of what apathetic, uninformed and/or free-loaders have created as nothing more than a tyrannical governing body whose members all hold themselves above the law, claiming not a smidgen of anything wrong, and getting away with it.

Property tax hike too high for seniors

I cannot believe that Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith is proposing such a property tax increase.

We as senior citizens cannot afford such an increase. I'm sure all seniors feel the same way. We don't get anything but bills and no money to pay them.

Food, electricity, water, sewer, medical insurance, car and house insurance have gone up. Drug costs have tripled. We have to have these in order to live.

I am 73, he is 76. We voted on a ballot to freeze our taxes, but this did not happen.

Please County Commissioners, vote no, no, no. This is a horrible thing to propose with the times as bad as they are.

May God bless and keep you. Mr. Smith, you need to put yourself in our position. We do not make $160,000-plus.
