Electors must follow will of the voters

I have tried to keep an open mind, so I read many of the liberal commentaries on the left editorial page. However, your liberal editorial on Friday went way too far.

We, the people, elected our electors based on who they were going to vote for at the convention. For you to now ask these electors to not vote for the candidate they said they would vote for and thus deny the will of the people who elected them is just plain wrong.

You need to retract that editorial and the person who wrote it needs to be terminated.

Electoral College is unfair system

Why should 80,000 votes in three states count more than 3 million votes in one state? The Electoral College is terribly unfair.

Three million voters in California have been disenfranchised, and their votes do not count at all while votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio count disproportionately higher.

The Electoral College makes a mockery of one-man one-vote democracy. We must stop electing presidents who do not win elections. This not only is bad for our country and greatly divides us, but should be illegal.

Hillary Clinton fairly won the election. She won, Trump lost.

'Hacksaw Ridge' should be seen by college students

Saw the movie "Hacksaw Ridge and was absolutely amazed at the heroics of Desmond Doss.

That movie should be required viewing by every "pantywaist" college student in the USA. Perhaps they'd learn something worthwhile.

And no, we're not going to provide them with puppies and kittens to hug and they won't get a trophy for participating.

Rich irony abounds in key Cabinet picks

As I am writing this, as our president-elect is giving a speech in Alabama to honor Jeff Sessions as his new Attorney General.

During the speech, he trashed the do-nothing Congress and said he was going to make America great again. The camera panned to Sessions who had a big grin on his face. This is rather funny because Sessions has been a member of the "do-nothing" Congress for more than 20 years.

What makes things even funnier, our president-elect has trashed our "terrible generals and bad military." So far he has named three generals to be on his team.

But the funniest thing of all is the folks who believe anything this unstable guy says, and elected him to be our president and re-elected the "do-nothing Congress."

Have a Merry Christmas.

Obama deserves our thanks for his service

Thank you, President Obama, for preventing a national economic collapse during the Great Recession and creating 15 million jobs and a 4.6 percent national unemployment rate.

Thank you for saving military lives and not involving us in a civil war in Syria.

Thank you for giving 20 million people a healthier life through Obamacare and cutting health insurance costs. Thank you for lowering gas prices and for green-energy programs that included Solyndra and other projects that made a $5 billion profit and have more jobs than coal mining.

Thank you for spending more money on veterans than George W. Bush did.

Thank you for stopping turn-back-the-clock fossil fools and trying to help the 962 black lung cases this decade in the northeastern coal-producing states.

Thank you for keeping Putin and the Russians from stealing our country.

Thank you for trying to bring racial balance to our country and de-militarizing the police.

Thank you for moving our country forward while the Republicans obstructed it in every way possible.
