Wade deserves center's thanks

There was a grand launch of the new Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center last week, and the support for the new center was most encouraging.

Many people have provided the leadership to bring the center to this stage of planning and fundraising needed for an opening less than three years from today. Most of them were recognized in the program, including Bill Raines, board president, and Mayors Andy Berke and Jim Coppinger. It was a powerful ceremony.

In the crediting process, one individual was unintentionally not mentioned. The center would not have survived for all these years without the indefatigable efforts of the acting executive director for the better part of the past decade, Jim Wade. He poured his heart and soul into keeping the museum in operation. For many years, Jim kept the focus on finding a way forward for a museum struggling to be successful.

He was personally responsible for recruiting many of the leaders who will move the museum into its new home and has moved into the background as the new leadership has found this path to success. Thank you, Jim.
