Southside Village delivers ease, location

Southside Village's modern and efficient homes are perfect for growing families, pet lovers and people at any stage of life who just want to be in the middle of things downtown, says listing agent Grace Frank of Re/Max Renaissance Realtors.

"It's the newest Southside community," she said. "What we're discovering is professional couples, small families that work downtown, empty-nesters who've been out in suburbia. Their kids are gone and now they want to be downtown where all the action is." These contemporary Craftsman-style homes have two covered porches, hardwood floors and high ceilings, all within walking distance of boutique shopping, restaurants and local art centers on Main and Market streets.

"They love the floor plan," said Frank of the mostly original designs by builder Frank Goodwin. "They love the details of the tile work in the master bathroom. They like how we've tried to use every square foot." The three- to four-bedroom homes pack two and a half baths, an open living, dining and kitchen space as well as storage space into 1,800-plus square feet. A front porch, screened back porch and optional second-story porch make it just as easy to enjoy outdoor living as indoor living.

The kitchens have custom cabinetry, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Frank said Goodwin's smart layout maximizes the cook's movements and makes it easy to entertain while cooking.

The homes are EnergyRight-certified, saving the typical buyer $1,000 to $1,200 per year on utility bills, according to Frank.

Lots are still available in Southside Village, as are three built homes.

"You can work with our designer to create a semi-custom home," Frank said.

Professional designer Tony Thompon chooses colors and finishes that make the inside and outside truly special.

Homes in Southside Village will be open Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
