Top prospect Caldwell commits to Georgia

Kentavious Caldwell gave the University of Georgia its first high-profile basketball commitment under coach Mark Fox this weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 175-pounder from Greenville, Ga., is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 5 shooting guard nationally and the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Caldwell chose the Bulldogs over scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma State and Tennessee.

Fox led the Bulldogs to a 14-17 mark in his first season, which included home victories over Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. His top two players from last season, power forward Trey Thompkins and guard Travis Leslie, elected to return for their junior seasons after considering a jump to the NBA.
