RICHMOND, Ky. - The No. 17-ranked University of Tennessee at Chattanooga leads Eastern Kentucky 17-14 after three quarters tonight at Roy Kidd Stadium.
Freshman running back Marquis Green scored on a 19-yard run in the third to put UTC in the lead. It was his first career touchdown.
The Mocs took a 10-7 lead with 34.6 seconds left in the second quarter when quarterback B.J. Coleman hit Joel Bradford for a 13-yard touchdown. That play came moments after Sloan Allison pulled in a 39-yard reception to the 13.
EKU answered right back with a 55-yard touchdown pass from T.J. Pryor to tight end Matt Lengel to give the Colonels a 14-10 lead at the break. Lengel broke through a couple of arm tackles on the play and scored easily.
The Colonels' first score came on a 29-yard pass from Pryor to Tyrone Goard. Mocs cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris deflected the pass when he tried to intercept it, but the ball went up into the air and the 6-foot-4 Goard caught it and ran the ball in for the score.
Earlier in the quarter, Mocs safety Jordan Tippit picked off a Pryor pass. It was his ninth career interception, tying him with coach Russ Huesman for sixth on UTC's all-time list.
Nick Pollard made a 23-yard field goal in the second quarter to get UTC on the scoreboard after missing a 44-yarder in the first.
