University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive tackle Keyon Reed was arrested Sunday on a domestic assault charge stemming from a Sept. 6 incident at an ex-girlfriend's off-campus home.

The redshirt freshman was picked up by UTC police at his Boling Apartments residence after a complaint was filed Sunday by the alleged victim and a warrant was issued. He later was released from the Hamilton County Jail on his own recognizance.

Mocs coach Russ Huesman said he was looking into the situation and will make a decision on Reed's future once he has more information and discusses the matter with athletic director Rick Hart.

Reed has started two of the No. 17-ranked Mocs' three games and has five tackles, including two sacks. He also has two fumble recoveries.

According to the complaint, Reed was picked up by the complainant and driven to her home on Sept. 6, because she and her roommates wanted a man in the house following a recent burglary.

While Reed and the complainant were watching a movie, according to the complaint, Reed "made a pass" at her. After she said no, "he became physical with her and held her down on the bed face down." Reed was on top of her but the complainant "advised there was no sexual contact made during the assault."

The complainant "said she turned her head back to try and turn over to push him off." Reed then "head-butted" the complainant in the right temple.

After the complainant "crawled to the bathroom and locked herself inside," she realized that she drove Reed to her home and would have to drive him back to campus, which she did.

Reed is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 24.
