Former Murray County High quarterback Billy Napier is expected to be named to Alabama's offensive coaching staff.
The Crimson Tide lost their third assistant since the BCS championship game Thursday when receivers coach Mike Groh left for the same position with the Chicago Bears and new coach Marc Trestman. Groh coached and served as recruiting coordinator for the 2011 and '12 Tide seasons, winding up with two national titles and two No. 1 signing classes.
Secondary coach Jeremy Pruitt and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland left earlier, Pruitt becoming Florida State's defensive coordinator and Stoutland taking the line job with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Napier served as an offensive quality control assistant at Alabama in 2011 after spending the 2009-10 seasons as Clemson's offensive coordinator. He was Colorado State's quarterbacks coach last season before accepting last month the roles of tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida State, which he held for 22 days.
