Alabama vaulted to the top of college football's recruiting rankings Wednesday after receiving a commitment from Cameron Robinson, the nation's top offensive tackle prospect.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder from West Monroe, La., picked the Crimson Tide over LSU in front of ESPNU cameras. He is the second recent five-star prospect from Louisiana to choose the Tide, joining Geismar safety and 2012 signee Landon Collins.
"Alabama is a great program, and I developed a really strong relationship with them," Robinson said on the broadcast. "I have extremely high expectations for myself. I plan on coming in, working hard and hopefully competing for a job as a freshman."
Robinson is the nation's No. 1 overall prospect according to 247sports.com and No. 3 according to Rivals.com.
The Crimson Tide lead Tennessee in the Rivals.com and Scout.com team rankings, while Ohio State is second according 247sports.com. Tennessee is third in the 247sports.com rankings, with Georgia fourth.
