After winning a ninth consecutive game over Tennessee last weekend, the Florida Gators will be after their 27th straight at Kentucky's expense Saturday night when they visit Lexington.

A 27th straight win would set the record for the most triumphs in a row by one SEC team over another. Tennessee defeated Kentucky 26 straight times from 1985 to 2010 before the Wildcats pulled a 10-7 upset in 2011.

"We're all motivated differently, and that's not something that I've really addressed with our football team," Florida coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday on the SEC teleconference. "I would think that most of our guys are aware of it, but our whole step is that this is the next ball game and that it's an SEC game, a road game and our first night game. None of those games will have any impact on what happens Saturday night."

Kentucky first-year coach Mark Stoops said he did bring up the streak but that it's certainly not a focus when compared to getting better each day.

Contributing to Florida's dominance was current South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who guided the Gators to wins over the Wildcats in each of his 12 years in Gainesville. Spurrier's Gators defeated Kentucky 73-7 in 1994, 42-7 in '95 and 65-0 in '96.

"Yeah, 26 is a lot, isn't it?" Spurrier said Wednesday. "What's the Vanderbilt streak with Florida? That's pretty long, too."

The Gators have defeated the Commodores 22 consecutive times.
