The Tuscaloosa Police Department announced Wednesday that the female in Saturday's domestic incident involving Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor had recanted her accusation.

Taylor was arrested and charged with domestic violence third-degree assault and domestic violence third-degree criminal mischief and was dismissed from the team Sunday afternoon. Crimson Tide athletic director Bill Battle and football coach Nick Saban released statements Sunday afternoon, and Saban addressed the media about the dismissal Monday evening after practice.

Neither Battle nor Saban issued a statement Wednesday regarding the turn of events, but Kip Hart, the associate commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said the charges filed against Taylor still stand.

"This will be something that's decided in the court system," Hart told AL.com, "and they will take into account what she has said now, what officers saw initially at the scene and what our investigation will continue to find."

The Crimson Tide held a two-hour practice Wednesday in preparation for Friday's scrimmage inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saban is scheduled to hold his next news conference immediately following the scrimmage.

In the police report, the 24-year-old female claimed the 6-foot-4, 335-pound Taylor caused minor neck injuries and punched a hole through a bedroom closet door.

Taylor originally signed with Georgia in 2012 but was dismissed from Mark Richt's program last July after being arrested for felony domestic assault, which followed a spring arrest for trying to cash stipend checks twice. Taylor is scheduled to be arraigned in an Athens courtroom next week regarding last summer's incident in which he allegedly choked his girlfriend and struck her several times with a closed fist.

According to AL.com, the accuser contacted Tuscaloosa police Monday with the revelation she had not been harmed. She reiterated Tuesday that she had lied, and she was charged with false reporting to law enforcement and placed in county jail.
